About This Image

When this Presbyterian Church near Delaware Water Gap had to be enlarged many years ago there was a shortage of space for the expansion. As the needed space conflicted with the row of headstones closest to the building, the back wall was built to include them.

Hi Anne - it's nice hearing from you. If you look at the second image you get a better view of how the back wall was built with the headstones together. It's something I've never seen before in an effort to not disturb the original headstone placements or graves. Vicki

Shawna said exactly what I was thinking. *LOL* It seems as if I have seen "old headstones" leaning against a little country church Ted and I stopped to look at - long ago. Beautiful, vibrant picture.

Good morning Shawna and Mary. Our narrator told us about this church when we went on the Delaware Water Gap trolley. Yesterday was a lazy day so we drove over for a closer look. The cemetery was beautifully tended with many older headstones. The ones embedded in the back wall were harder to read as you can see from the second image I placed yesterday. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. Vicki

Interesting information and capture Vicki. I find the rural churches with graveyards are so pretty and interesting.
