About This Image

These are the towering spires on the west face of the Superstition Mountains, east of metro Phoenix. The superstition has carried forward from the 19th century that there is a fabulous lost gold mine somewhere in these rugged mountains. Would-be gold miners still hazard the many dangers that the Superstitions present, just on the hope that the legend could be true.

For me, the gold is in the scenery. So, I guess I already found it.

Carol. Come on out and have a look. Maybe you will be the one. Stay away in the summer though. It's a killer out there.

I would be right out there looking for it. I love digging old bottles and Perhams in Maine have old tourmaline mines they let the public visit and prospect as much as they want. Alex and I have taken picnics and our kids and grandkids many times to spend the day there. Carol
