About This Image

people gathered to honour the glorious sunset and those lost at sea, at the monument dedicated to the memory of lost fishermen at Steveston, BC, Canada. This monument is a replica of a Gillnetter's Needle.
Altho' these waters look calm, they are very unpredictable, especially in the area where the river meets the open water, causing severe currents.
2 years ago a heavily laden fishing boat with a family onboard, was returning to Steveston when it capsized, - the mother, 2 children and 2 other family members drowned. Only the father survived.

thanks Golda, glad you like it. Interesting about your experience with commercial fishing. It is a lovely tribute, I didn't see the plaque when there, but looked it up online. The wondrous sunsets there really set the monument off beautifully.
