Here is a picture of a Sun Dog. I had read about them, but never saw one, let alone photographed one. They are related to halos, but a unique phenomena. The sun dog is that glow of light (center left). It is sometime known as a "false sun", since they appear like a bright spot in the sky. Sun dogs often appear in pairs on either side of the sun.
