Celtic crosses are my favorite. This picture is wonderful. The light and shading add so much .

i love this piece. it's so quiet and peacful yet so powerful. i love how the viewer's eye is lead, with the gaze of the figure to the left, to the cross and how it is highlighted to show individualism (a powerful characteristic used, for the first time, in the Renaissance) making it seem as though no other cross is there. This searies of events makes the view wonder whats going on - is this figure (intended to be Jesus?) looking on this person with favor or as a judgement. I know not what your intentions were but i am more partial to the former. I love also the sky in the background giving it a wonderful contrast between the background and the foreground. Let me just say once more: i love this piece.
