About This Image

house sparrow and spring flowers on our patio wall. The flowers are Aubretia "Royal Blue" or also known as Blue Rock Cress. My maternal grandma always grew and spoke of Aubretia. We just bought this perennial this spring, - there was some here years ago when we moved here, a large plant, but it gradually vanished. So we wanted more, as it's early flowering. So I was happy when this sparrow stopped to investigate it, as had hoped some bird might give me a photo op : )

Alandra gorgeous shot. I love how you could see the striations in the feathers of all the bird shots thus far, except of course, the ones in the fountain bathing.

appreciate your nice comments, Mary in Kent. Thankyou. Yes, it does mean a lot to me to have the same flowers that my Grandmother grew. The flower names come back to me and I think of her often, and have recently bought wallflowers (cheiranthus) for the same reason, and others.

Wonderful to have a plant that your Granny had Alandra. And great bonus that the birds like it! Wonderful close up - colours and textures gorgeous.
