About This Image

The Spanish Dagger cactus are starting to bloom. They don't all bloom at the same time, the ones in my yard haven't even started yet. The blooms grow to around two feet long with lots of off white blooms. More blooms are coming after the first ones wilt. The insects really like the blooms but the birds don't seem to care much about them. I do see the birds standing on them eating the insects that show up.

Hi Beverly, Thanks for checking out my photo.. The Spanish Daggers do have the largest blooms, even the very large Saguaro cactus only have small blooms.

Hi Claudia, Thanks for checking out my photo and for your wonderful comment. Everything around here is about the same color, fifty shades of brown with some green here and there LOL.. I'm glad your enjoying my desert, soon the desert will have some colors when the small cactus start to bloom.

Fabulous flower, and plant. It always amazes me, when the colour of the plants seem to fit into your landscape. The tone of the desert background is an exact match to the foliage, and flowers in the plant. Your enviroment is so different to mine,it's fascinating to see other climates. Wonderful shot of this beauty!
