About This Image

Snowy Owl, it seems to be having a good laff at the poor windswept photographers gazing out at it from the dike road, LOL.

Hi Linda, many thanks for the very nice comments. -- appreciated :) We are looking forward to the return of these snowy owls to our area in a few weeks time, hopefully (not that we want to hurry winter's arrival). They didn't visit this region last winter.

Hi Alex, many thanks, glad you smiled when seeing it, too. For some reason it makes me think of Burl Ives. The snowies didn't visit our area last winter, and I was just remarking to DH a few days ago, that I hope they return to visit here this coming winter. (about the only nice part of it to look forward to :)

Hi Fella, thanks, yes, he does look a bit Burl Ives-ish, LOL. Wonder why they aren't in your area, as it's not that far from here. Was telling someone about your eagle images, so you probably had some extra hits lately on them.
Guest - Mar 20, 2007 10:17 PM EDT

want to thank you all by name, as do appreciate the nice comments and it gives me pleasure to share the pics. Thanks to Mike, Alan, Beverly, Steve, Golda and Don. Had planned to go again today to see if the Snowies are still there, - got a new memory card yesterday, for that possibility as well as the hummingbirds arrival back here soon. But it was raining earlier - might clear up, is brighter now out there, so who knows.
Guest - Mar 19, 2007 03:21 PM EDT
thanks everyone, am happy this one gave you all a smile to start the day :) Am smiling sitting here too. Mike, you have a point there re the mantling, - could explain why it's smiling :) - but I didn't see it catch anything, and hardly took my eyes off them, but who knows - maybe they are sneaky about it, and it was behind the logs, so it could have found a small rodent. It seemed to remain there for quite a while in that pose. Thought maybe it was just relaxing it's wings. lol.
Guest - Mar 19, 2007 12:27 PM EDT
I agree Alandra. Killer capture! And like Alan said, you can't help but smile looking at it. Great work! Don
Guest - Mar 19, 2007 11:15 AM EDT
We love them because of their round human eyes. This is a wonderful capture Alandra, and another great bird photograph.
Guest - Mar 19, 2007 10:07 AM EDT
Absolutely brilliant, Alandra! There's something almost walrussy about its pose! Alan's analysis leaves no room for improvement, so I'll just agree with everything he said!
Guest - Mar 19, 2007 09:42 AM EDT
Unique image of the owl - I have to agree with Alan's comments.
Guest - Mar 19, 2007 09:12 AM EDT
