About This Image

A visit to the National Aquarium in Napier is a real educational journey. These Sea Horses we are told are the longest in the world. They can grow to 24 in. (61cm) The males actually carry the babies and give birth. They have a lot to teach us humans. Go the male species.

Thankyou Vincent, you have expressed yourself very well, and thanks for the male point of view. Regards Vivienne

Having kept sea horses and am a male I have to stick up for the stronger sex and say that the female must have huge trust in the male counter-part to deposit their eggs into his account,so to speak, lol. Now when it comes to the human race well that is a bit of 'horses for courses'deal as some nations leave the child rearing to mum and is a accepted practice and then there is the new age dad who is a 'stay at home dad' and mum goes out to earn.As long as they are bring them up well is probably the main thing, regards Vince.

Thanks to both of you. Yes the female deposits the eggs into the pouch of the male, He incubates and presto we have babies. They are so tiny, but grow quite fast. We used to have a seahorse farm here in Napier. The tours were very educational.

WOW. If that was true for the Human race, we would be like China - one kid per family.. or more to the point ALOT of childless families. Perhaps Seahorses don't feel pain? I'm guessing then that male Seahorses don't catch a cold - or atleast don't die from it LOL.
