About This Image

US 60 is a shorter route to Mesa than taking Interstates 40 and 17 westward. Knowing that it was considerably slower, I kept putting off this route, but leaving Mesa afer an early afternoon delivery last spring, decided to go for it.
It was a spectacular drive, teeming with campgrounds - but not larger RVs - and I don't recommend it for towing. This stairway was the original path to the water's edge at the canyon's lowest point but has been replaced with more modern walkways. It is a beautiful location.

Bingo, Gary! I figured you would know where it was - way at the bottom! The bridge is great, but I got there too late to nail it - I was lucky to get two good shots! Glad you know the spot too, Karen. It is beautiful right there.

Nice shot Vicki. Is this the point where US 60 crosses the Salt River? There is quite a spectacular bridge over that gorge.

Hey, finally someplace I have been to. Although back in the 60's there wasn't any tourist development. Just the rugged landscape with a highway going through it.
