great capture of the nuthatch, Alex. I find them kindof hard to get a good photo of. Have heard them around our property again lately, so am glad, as I like those little birds. (their voices like "rusty tin horns", remember? LOL) I always think of that when I hear them, after reading that description of their voices. It's such a good description of the sounds they make)

This capture has wonderful clarity and detail of this Nuthatch. I am seeing "no red" on this bird either. Could it be a female?

Great photo Alex! The lighting is excellent along with the sparkle in it's eye. I think I need to calibrate my monitor, it looks like a Brown Breasted Nuthatch :-)
