thanks Tania, yes there is one that is quite unafraid of us, this year. I do get excited at all this wildlife and sometimes can't get the hummers in the viewfinder as am so wound up, lol, esp if DH is as excited and trying to get me to shoot in different directions, LOL - that happened just now when I tried to capture shots of the hummers at the new fountain, no luck : )

thanks Karen. they can be little pests. They have got into our lilypond in the past and disturbed the plants, which survive tho'. Luckily our birdbaths/fountains are so heavy that they haven't been tipped over (yet). I put water containers out back for them to drink from, so this saves them going into the lilypond etc.

Great to catch the open mouth and the eyes looking at you. We have at least one that uses our back yard for a toilet! Ug! It also tips the bird bath over.

thankyou Mary and Alex. Yes, I was thinking of this, Mary, when down there with this one yesterday, how yours appear only at nights. With the light evenings now, they do appear here when it's still light, but even earlier if there's a reason, ie - I suspect this one is a Mama with babies, altho haven't seen any yet. They come out earlier to avoid confrontation with other raccoons I believe.

How cute! What a great shot. I occasionally see racoons in our area, but they are very shy and always run away before I can photograph them. This one doesn't seem to be frightened of people.
