This purple flower lives in the Uinta High Country in northern Utah. This mountainous region creates its own weather, which keeps enough water in the area to support forests, wildlife, and flowers.

A very beautiful flower, the Unita! And so is the small bright yellow one beside it, which really lends added beauty to the purple one. *g* I like the little purple tongues - or whatever, *g* - extending from the purple flowers. I enjoyed just looking at them for awhile and pretending I was there. *g*

Yes, this is an elephant head. I've been trying to find another sample of these, but have been unsuccessful. These are named because each little flower looks litterally like an elephant's head - trunk and all.

Think it is Elephanthead, in the figwort family...
