I have thousands of these in the PA woods right now...

Not Blewits

I don't believe these are blewits. Blewits have a broader stalk and don't have any kind of colored ring around the stalk.

No, I am not color blind. I have just been at computer too long. I was thinking about Don's blewets and I really blew it. *LOL*

Thanks, Donwrob, for the identification of Blewits. I've pretty much confirmed it with a Google search, but it's remarkable how poor the photography is on most of the mushroom hunter's websites. I rarely disturb anything I photograph in the wild, and it's painful to see photos of mushrooms intentionally kicked over just to show the gills.

Great shot! I saw a mushroom just like that here in PA but it had white spots. I was totally amazed, came home looked up purple mushrooms and came across your picture. Thanks for sharing

Very cool and colorful mushroom capture. I would guess that they are Wood Blewits. But that is just a guess. I have never seen them before but have several decent mushroom books. There are several others that are close also. Neat capture. Don
