About This Image

While walking to our mailbox I caught this guy standing on one of our fence posts. I don't know this birds name but there are a lot of them here in Arizona.

Up-Date April 8th 2006. After searching and searching this bird is a Bendire's Thrasher.

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments. I updated my description about what bird this is. Hi Lulu, I took the photo hand held but had help from the lens. I bought the fancy Canon 75-300mm IS USM. The IS means Image Stabilizer. If you hold the camera good and steady with the IS turned on you can take photos in good light zoomed to 300mm hand held. I wish you could see the full size version, Lens Flare's photo sizing program makes all the photos look fuzzier.

Thats a great shot. I'm guessing you would have used a tripod. We have the same camera but I don't have any fancy lenses (yet!). The eye of the bird is nice and clear.
