About This Image

A Macro photo of our New Zealand Pohutakawa Flower. It is also known as the N.Z. Christmas Tree. They are very prevelent in Coastal areas, and are spectacular when in Flower around Christmas Time. Large trees and very Red Flowers. This was taken North of Auckland, at Orewa Beach. The bees were buzzing around getting the Nectar.

Jas thankyou for looking and leaving a comment. So Glad it has put a name to one of your photos. We even saw a tree with yellow Flowers, which was new to us. Yes it was a yellow Pohutakawa, beside the red ones. Very Striking.

Lovely shot of the Pohutakawa flower Vivienne! I have one like it, on file, and I never knew it's name. A lovely clear macro shot here and it's such an interesting flower to see. :)
