thanks Carol. I don't have a macro lens, but captured this with my telephoto lens. It will serve the purpose til I can decide what to do about a macro lens, I guess.

that's really nice of you all, thanks very much for the encouraging comments, Anne, Jas and Karen, greatly appreciated. Am happy you like it. Great thought about the resemblance to ostrich feathers, Jas. Did think of feathers myself, but hadn't got quite as far as thinking of the ostrich feathers, and you're right about that, thanks for metnioning this. I did work with this image into the small hours of the morning, and came up with some interesting results :) It was on one of these results that the "feather" idea entered my mind. Will put the others up here soon, so you can let me know what you think. (thanks)

This is a real gem of a Peony Alandra! I love the colour and the petals remind me of the ostrich feather fans, used by showgirls. Great depth of field, as Karen mentions...just very beautiful! :)
