About This Image

This parakeet was taken at Hogle Zoo in Utah in their bird exhibit. I made everything black and white except for the bird. I blurred out the other background noise, but left the seeds in focus on purpose since it's the second most important thing I wanted people to see.

This is a budgie - a native of Australia. You can teld by the bands across the back of the head and the colour of the eye how old the bird is, and the sex from the skin at the top of the beak (the cere). This is a mature male - and he's just beautiful!
