About This Image

Another lemon shot. Some of these lemons get to be about 5 inches long. Sometimes we have to look closely to determine if they are lemons or grapefruit, because the two trees are intertwined. You can also see the lemon blossoms. The two trees are about 10 feet from our bedroom window. We sleep with the window open. Sometimes I wake up in the night and think I've gone to heaven. Surely, heaven must smell like this. We look forward to this time every year.

Thanks Maya. Sparkle, sorry to hear you are sick again. Go ahead and pick that one. Plenty more where that came from!

Guess what. I am sick again. Another chest cold and guess what I need some tea, honey and lemons. So can I just pick that one off of the tree. They look so fragrant to me. I could imagine just how they smell

Lucious looking. I know that fresh picked fruit like the grapefruit tastes nothing like what we get in the produce markets.

Sure thing! Ya'll come on down. No, this isn't the deep south, but I did spend part of my life there. On the Meyer lemons, Alandra. I have no idea about the variety. The trees were here when we moved in about 30 years ago. Very small then. They sure have grown! It isn't just our trees producing the wonderful aroma. There are thousands of citrus trees in this area. It once was all orchards here and many of the trees were left standing. It is an amazing place in March. Amazing in August too, in a far crueler way (the heat, you know).

OH, I love this one!! just so refreshing and beautiful. And I love reading your descriptions, Gary, and understand what you mean re the scent. We choose scented plants for our garden too, -- scent has a great bearing on the plants we choose. Are those Meyer Lemons? someone mentioned this type to me, have never had the pleasure of tasting them. Have a book of recipes etc specially for Meyer Lemons, let me know if you'd like more info on this, if that's what these are. Oh, forgot, I'll be right down for that glass of lemonade, so will bring the book with me : )
