Old Post Office, Newchurch Village
|
About This Image
This was the Village Post Office, in Newchurch, until just a few years ago. The couple who ran the Post Office, also had part of the Post Office as a small store, where you could purchase everyday essentials. Since their retirement, the Old Post Office has been returned to a private residence. There is still a post box outside but this is all that remains of this property's previous life. The wisteria that flowers on the front of the building, is, probably, as well known as the Post Office itself!
Today, the Post Office resides in a very small wooden building, just along the same street and is only open part time.Newchurch gets its name from the new church which was built in 1087 by the monks of Lyra in Normandy.
