I think my youngest my be a leprechaun...actually.... But you're right, this is one in a billion. I was outside, worried about the rain; worried about getting struck by lightning or falling debris from the fireworks but I kept snapping away using very slow shutter speeds (anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds). When I had this image in Adobe Photoshop for resizing to post on the web, I deliberated for at least 20 minutes on whether or not to "photoshop out" the light pole, which greatly bothers me about this photo. However I finally decided to leave it "au natural" to show that the man does not win. As you can see that's a street light and it's burned out. In the month I've been here, no one's bothered to come and fix it. Kind of ironic isn't it? Thanks so much for your comments, I actually plan on having this blown up and framed for my office.

This is a great image. In fact, it's one in a billion. How many people can say that they got a picture of a lightning bolt and a firework in the same picture straight out of the camera! Sure, it wouldn't be hard to combine 2 images to get the same effect, it's a once in a lifetime chance to get both at once. (Did you happen to see a leprechaun that day as well?)
