The "plaque" is not of bronze. It is of white marble (probably Hopton Wood marble). The memorial was carved by Edward Carter Preston who did many carvings in the Cathedral. The face of the memorial bears his characteristic initials "ECRP" [The R is a smaller font and is superscript].
