Mama Raccoon, - mid afternoon, spotted her sleeping atop the clematis vine which has spread right up a tall holly tree & beyond, out back here.
She was curled up & in a deep sleep when I first noticed her, - it seemed unusual for a raccoon to be sleeping in full view in the daytime like that. Shortly after, a youngster joined her, guess it's her baby from the previous year. She woke up for awhile then and groomed herself for sometime and I got some images of both mama and youngster, from an open window at back of house. Then they both fell asleep, - mama stayed in the same place atop the vine, and baby slid down a bit, into a hammocky type part of the vine :) It was playing close to mama one minute, - went to get the camera again, but by the time I got back to the window, baby had slid down a bit and was fast asleep in the "hammock" lol. They remained there til just before dusk, - we went out and they were still there when we ret'd, but departed soon after seeing me at the back window again.
