Mallard drake, paddling quietly in a pond near the heron nesting area. There's usually a hen mallard with him, but didn't get her in this image. So calming watching these ducks gliding silently along.

thanks Lorraine and Alex. It was a pretty little area behind, looking beyond those twigs/branches framing the top, - the water goes back up in there, and we could see the mallards paddling about behind there. They've got a real nice little "waterway" there. The herons visit a larger pond area a bit further up the road from here, - guess it's all part of the same waterway.

Very nice, lovely image, the branches make a great frame around the duck, makes for an interesting image.
