About This Image

Maketu is on the Pacific coastline in the Bay of Plenty NZ.
It is the site of the landing of the Arawa canoe, and is also the site of a ship wreck. A small village it has a wonderful fish and chip shop right on the edge of the beach.
As children we used to camp here and also across the hill at Little Waihi. The place brings back happy memories of childhood

TY the main water flow is a tidal river as it flows to the ocean which is also in the photo. When we were kids we loved to swim in this river and also get shellfish by digging our hands under the soil.

What a beautiful sky. I like the wide angle of the shot and the tree framing the top. Don
