About This Image

This is my submission for the jagged contest. It's the wall that surrounds the A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital. The entire wall has broken glass embedded on the top.

Thank you all for the nice comments. It does seem like a strange place to have walls like this. If I remember correctly, the DuPont family built these walls to keep people from staring at the children while they out on the hospital grounds. Because the DuPont's originally built the hospital to care for their disfigured and ill children which was the result of marrying within the family. They were quite concerned with keeping the wealth in the family a hundred or so years ago. It's neat to know there are other walls like this in such different areas.

I've seen walls like that before, too. I can't remember where. I ground a piece of glass into my foot Thanksgiving morning. Part of it is still there. Ouch! Good eye.

Interesting photo. Seems like a rather strange thing to have at a children's hospital.

Very cool jagged entry Gil. Nice looking capture. I like the angle too. I remember seeing walls like this in Mexico also, neat low tech security system. Don

Simple but effective, and that applies as much to the photo as to the deterrence! The different colours in the bottles are quite attractive as well.

I saw a lot of rock walls with the broken glass embedded in France. I guess it is a good deterent.

Look quite nasty, I don't think anyone would bother going over that.
