Yep, the lion does look like he's yawning. If he was roaring, I think his tongue would be farther back in his mouth.

Not sure what you mean by prime lens. Its a 100-300mm Cannon lens which I used to use on my Canon EOS film camera. On a digital camera it increases the range to around 400mm or more I think.

What a fantastic image! Sometimes just a single image seems to capture the complete essence of its subject and this one really communicates "lionness" if that word exists! I rather wish you hadn't told us it was yawning, as I'd imagined you as the intrepid photographer risking like and limb to capture this brilliant shot!
