About This Image

I found this telephone up in the Hualapai mountains just a few miles from Kingman, Arizona. The Hualapai mountains were named after the North American people formerly living in the Colorado river valley in Arizona.

Hi Don, Thanks very much for your nice comment, and no problem at all about being behind. I have been finding some of my photos that I did not reply to from 2005 and 2006. Now that's bad....

Hey Alan. I was browsing the contest page and realized I hadn't commented on this one. Sorry I'm so late. It is a very cool capture and a well deserving winner! Don

Hi Tania, Thanks very much for your comment :) I'm glad you liked my photo... Things don't always look like they are LOL.. On the other side of the big tree was a parking lot with the rangers station building. The roads were drivable and the parking lot had been scraped off. I just had to walk maybe 20 yards to get this photo.

I missed voting for this comp as I was moving. what a well deserved win truly mystical and beautiful seeing a telephone box in what apears to be a remote snowy location.

WOW! "Thanks Everyone" for all of your wonderful comments and congrats :) And a Big Thanks to all of you that thought my photo was worth your vote... It's 4:45pm here and I just thought about the contest, then to see my photo had won was a really nice surprise and a great ending to the day. Hey Alfresco, I like your thought about it being a welcome site if you were stranded.

Congratulations on a well-deserved win, Alan. I didn't get a chance to vote as we were off-line again - but yours would have been right where it is. It's terrific. Vicki

Congratulations on the contest win, very well deserved! I agree with the other comments, nice shot and an unusual scene. That would be a really welcome sight for someone with a broken-down snowmobile! (or maybe for a salesman behind in his quota for "cold calls";-) Bruce

Hi Larry, I'm glad you liked my winter phone shot. You know I have not paid much attention to phone booths lately with having a cell phone. My next trip into town I'm going to look around and see what I can find.
Larry - Jan 07, 2008 11:14 PM EDT
Great photo, I'll tell ya, I think you would be hard pressed to find one of those phone booths today, I believe the phone company has got rid of most of those, along with the nice wooden phone booths you used to see in bus stops and hospitals and such....

Hi David, Thanks very much for your thoughts about this photo. No photoshop stuff on this photo or any of my photos, all I know how to do is the basic stuff, I have never even figured out layers.
Guest - Jan 07, 2008 05:20 PM EDT
What a great picture. My first thought was "Photoshop" but then I thought it was actually what was there. My next thought was "It's the TARDIS. Where's Dr. Who?" As always, great shot Alan.

Hi Ikka, Ann, Beverly, Janice, Chriss, Alex, and Jas.. Thank you all very much for your wonderful comments. I'm glad you all enjoyed my snow photo.

What a beautiful scene, Alan. Fresh snow always has a magical feel to it. I like the different heights of the logs, with thick snowcaps on.
Guest - Jan 01, 2008 05:50 AM EDT
Great shot Alan,it looks like it just grew right in amongst the trees and not a track around.
Guest - Jan 01, 2008 02:12 AM EDT
Lovely image, I haven't seen snow like this for 30 years, one very good reason why we moved south.
Guest - Dec 31, 2007 08:59 PM EDT
Great shot. Could you imagine finding a phone in the middle of no where.
Guest - Dec 31, 2007 08:19 PM EDT
Wonderful winter image - that red phone booth adds just the right touch and color.
Guest - Dec 31, 2007 08:07 PM EDT
