About This Image

unusual pose of the hummingbird zooming along, with both wings in the down position. Rufous female hummer on our front patio. We have 3 females visiting lately and they spend most of their time chasing each other away :)

yes, you're right Jas, about this one looking like a fighter jet :) They're acting very aggressively lately, and they fly right up high into the air, almost beak to beak, - it's a wonder they don't collide. We have 3 females here at present, haven't seen any of the red males for sometime. But these females spend much of their time chasing each other from the various flowers.

This one looks a bit like a fighter jet in battle! Great capture Alandra and good detail for a fast moving shot. :)

Hi Golda, yes, you're right about their steely expressions. Very determined. Thanks for the nice comments. Wish it had been a bit sharper, but it was moving very fast, as can be seen here.
