Hello Dee, good to see you here :) and how nice of you to take time to leave such nice comments. Glad you like this one, - rather unusual to see the hummer sipping at a yellow iris. I haven't captured many shots of the hummers yet this spring. Am a bit outof practice.

This photograph is my very favorite, You are without a doubt a terrific photographer Alandra. Dee

that's very nice of you, Tim, thankyou for the encouraging comments, much appreciated, and sorry to be late with these thanks, -- haven't been visiting here very often lately. We currently have an Anna's hummingbird visiting our nectar feeder each day, for the past 2 weeks or so. (it's Feb.11th right now).

Outstanding composition stopping the action with a very fast shutter speed!

Nice picture of the humming bird! I caught a photo of a humming bird on my oriental lily the other day. It seemed so attracted to the lilies. I have a 5'8" oriental lily just about to bloom. It certainly has taken it's place in my small garden.

thankyou again, Beverly for the very nice comments. I do prefer to capture hummer images beside (or "in" :) the flowers, if possible.
Guest - May 13, 2007 08:41 AM EDT
Excellent shot, so nice to see the hummer somewhere besides a feeder.
Guest - May 12, 2007 06:09 PM EDT

thanks very much Steve, hoped you would see it, as you weren't here last year when most of my hummer shots were posted. Glad you like it :) Unusual that the hummer was drinking from the yellow flower as red flowers are their preference.
Guest - May 09, 2007 09:26 AM EDT
Alandra, this shot is perfect! How unbelievable that an iris petal can support the weight of a bird without even seeming to bend.
