About This Image

hummingbird, rufous female, new to our garden, near the pink mallow flowers, but she's more interested in the bright red tubular flowers, where there's more nectar for her.

thanks Susan. the pink flowers got beaten down by the recent rain, unfortunately. Not sure if they'll perk up later or not.

thanks Alex D. Am surprised they are interested in the pink open type flowers. About ID-ing them, - I did notice these "new" hummers to our garden, do seem to be paler coloured. The other 2 females seem to have disappeared, which is a shame as they must have had nests with eggs. One seemed to have some type of injury to her back, just remembered I had commented on that earlier when I saw one of those pics yesterday.

Another beautiful shot of the hummingbird. I bet you are getting pretty good at identifying them. It won't be long before they have names.
