what a terrific capture of this beautiful duck! Am another who has never seen a merganser in real life, but sure would love to. As well as the great contrasting colours and markings of its feathers, also like the way the tail feathers are splayed out behind it, ontop of the water.

Excellent shot! I have seen images of this duck before, but rarely so well captured. Really like the eye against the black head.

Great photo of a really cool looking duck. Thanks for uploading this photo, I don't think I have ever seen a Hooded Merganser before.. It looks very streamlined and must be able to move fast underwater.
