About This Image

Great Blue Heron just after he took off from the stream, with the clouds below. This is the same heron that was in the stream. He flew a short distance to the other side of the road and landed in a field, - he squawked several times as he took off, I got some shots with his beak open, as he hollered : )
Realize it's not according to "rule of 3rds", but wanted to include the clouds :) I have different versions of this that I might put up to ask opinions on.

You certainly captured the bliss of the "flight of the Heron!" A beautiful picture that lifts us out of an ordinary day and touches our higher self with Serenity. Thank you.

very nice - showing the clouds below the Heron adds a lot to the photo.

Lovely shot.

many thanks, Janice and Don. glad you like it. There are the tops of the mountains in the shot also, as well as more clouds, but if I'd left that in, the heron detail would have been lessened.

thankyou Karen, for the generous comments, that's very nice of you and appreciated. Interesting that you mentioned "graceful", as I was going to use "Grace" as the title on one of these : ) These herons are so graceful for their huge size, I agree. I love them.

Incredible composition. You captured the feather detail and that graceful pose with a cloudy background. Wow, well done!

thankyou Carol and Alex D for the nice comments, appreciated. It's strange about the clouds, as in all the other heron shots I took by the nesting area, earlier in summer, - think there were no clouds that appeared in any of them. Guess it has something to do with different time of year, or possibly facing a different direction, more towards the mountains in this one.

Very nicely done. Love the detail on the wings. The clouds are a nice touch.
