Thank you Alandra for your thoughts and comments,this I think is a mum because I spotted a baby fosicing around our garden.

cute little fella. my aunt in England used to get a family of these visiting her garden patio each evening, before she moved. The parent hedgehogs would bring the babies too. We don't get them in the wild here, far as I know. There are porcupines tho' in some areas of BC, but havent heard of them being in this region.
