About This Image

A common thistle taken on a farm in America's Heartland, 2,000 miles from California, reminded me of a story about an organ repairman who was working in a huge church in New York City. On the wall he saw a gold plated phone with a sign that read "Talk directly to God, $10,000." He saw similar signs in churches in San Francisco, Boston, and Washington. On a repair call to a small church in the Midwest he saw a phone on the wall with a sign that read "Talk directly to God, 40 cents." He asked the minister if he could explain why the rates were so low there. The minister replied "You're in the Heartland son, it's a local call... :) This photo was taken near Hanover, Illinois.

Hi Mary, This shot was taken with a Canon telephoto lens, 70-200mm, f2.8L. Thank you for commenting, somtimes the simplest things are really beautiful when you take the time to look at them.

Lovely shot. I especially like the purple Thistle taken against the tree bark (I think that's what it is) background. It really pops the Thistle color out. Did you use a macro lens for this shot?
