this Great Blue Heron was digging around in the branches where he was standing and found this little branch to give to his mate to use for nest building. We watched the entire process, it was neat to see.
Captured from a distance with telephoto lens.

this is at the nesting area where there are approx 400 great blue herons nesting, on a wooded cliff area, near our home
