About This Image

This is a photo of the full moon the night before the eclipse (10-27-04). I was just doing a trial run to make sure everything was ready for the eclipse. I listed this under Misc since none of the other choices were appropriate. Maybe we should have a Moonscape or Telephoto catagory.

Almost as good as being there. Your photo makes you feel it is awfully close. Great shot!

Frank - that's an incredibly well-detailed shot. Now I really miss my telescope. It was an awesome eclipse too - I was glad I was in Florida at the time to see it

This image was shot at 1/400 sec at f/6 on shutter priority using the 400 end of a 200-400mm lens. It was the night before and the moon was much lower on the horizon and relatively closer than the moon during the eclipse. #2 was taken just before the eclipse and was much higher in the sky and much brighter with less atmospheric coloring. We have all seen that big yellow moon when it first comes into view.

It's interesting that your Full Moon #1 and Full Moon #2 are so different in colour. Did you enhance differently, or could this simply be atmospheric influence? Interesting that this is photo is less 'popular' that the second, maybe because the second photo is so bright? This one has a lot of detail :)
