FSD stands for Field Service Division (the words painted on the side of this building) This building is located on the site of the old Alameda Naval Airstation. Most were built just prior to WWII and though many are now vacant or rented to private businesses, they have a unique air to them. I particularly like the vast size/scale of the buildings (many were airplane hangers or supply depots). Also, they have a touch of an art deco feel to them. Best of all is the faded colors heraldling back to an era that is growing as faded as the paint job.
