Prickly pear cactus bloom. The jagged edges of the petals give it a fragile look.

Karen Moen - Feb 25, 2009 09:59 PM EDT Hello back, Bubbalinn! Sorry I didn't see your comment until this evening. Thank you so much. These were full of bees and I happened to catch this bloom with no insects at the time I took this. Afternoon shadows made a dark contrast to the lighted areas.
bubbalinn - Oct 14, 2008 12:27 PM EDT Hi Karen, I recently uploaded some cactus photos and got looking at the cactus photos and found yours :) Beautiful photo of the yellow bloom, I also like how the light gave you the dark background. The insects sure do love these..

Guest - Mar 28, 2007 08:56 PM EDT Gorgeous photo. The color and the lighting are really beautiful.
Guest - Mar 23, 2007 06:30 PM EDT Thank you, Don, for your kind feedback. This flower was partially in shade on a bright sunny day, so the background showed as dark.
Guest - Mar 21, 2007 09:21 AM EDT I missed this on too Karen. Beautiful capture! I really like the color and lighting. And everyone knows how much I like a dark background :-). Don
