About This Image

My Favorite Dove (Mourning Dove), or her mate, (I am not sure which), took a break and flew off the nest revealing a single egg. I took the opportunity to snap a picture.

Assuming everything follows the natural course, there should be a second egg arriving soon, then a 14 day incubation period.

That nest looks similar to those of the TX mourning doves, although they use twigs instead of pine needles, and the construction is rather flimsy.
