this is a comparison in the size of the ferries, mainly for Karen. The smaller ferry in this image is the Queen of Surrey.

we have heard that the Coastal Renaissance ferry is being taken out of service for the winter months, due to insufficient traffic (which is the result of high gasoline prices, so not as many people are travelling)

thanks Susan. Well, the larger ferry goes up and down the BC Coast, whereas the smaller ones go back and forth to Vancouver Island and other Gulf Islands (just short journeys, by comparison)

Lovely shot, amazing the difference in size of the two ferries, ours are all the same size here.

thanks for the nice comment, Carol. Actually, there's lots of space there, - it's just a bit deceiving with the hulk of the mountains, but the shore on opposite side is quite a distance away.
