saw this interesting design as we passed. I believe the design is known as "Engagement Rings" and the artist is Dennis Oppenheim.

Upon nightfall, the rings light up and can be seen around English Bay in Vancouver's city beach area.
We have not seen them illuminated, but look forward to seeing them at night.
The weight is 3500 lbs and the media is glass, steel and aluminum. (info was taken from an online site) as I did not see the plaque when taking the photo.

Looks like a nice serene setting. Have never seen lanterns like these, and Don's descriptioin is good.
