Thank you for looking Karien and such a nice comment too. We have our home a little distance from the road so its lovely and quiet and because of the growth around our house, people are unaware there is even a house nestled amongst the trees.

Great shot of the cormorant on the driftwood, Cindy. Steve, Cindy was correct. Like the Anhinga, Cormorants have to dry out their wings between dives and this is how they do it. It's a terrific image, Cindy.

Very nice too, Cindy! This is a cormorant, and both these and the related shags hold their wings like this. I don't think the reason is well understood, but the theory is that it's a way of cooling. I've got some cormorant shots here showing the same behaviour.
