Nice shot of a male Eastern Pondhawk, great depth of field for such a shot as well.

Yes I would say there is a direct connection with the development of helicopters. If you look very close at the new Military units they look even more like a dragonfly than the older ones - must be something to it!

This dragonfly reminds me of a stationary helecopter. Do you think people designed helecopters after the body of a dragonfly? I really like the intense specularity on its eyes.
