Good for you!! I still haven't tried them but I do know they make jelly from them. What seems even stranger to eat is the green lobes of the cactus which I have seen in some grocery stores. Texas farmers burn off the spines and feed the lobes to cows! A survivalist would probably welcome the water they contain.

Well, I changed my mind and did try to eat one after I found out whet they were. They are called Prickly Pears and they actually taste good. If you get a chance give one a try.

These are the fruit from a cactus. The ones we see are red and people do eat them.
