You're right, it does look a bit like an english sheepdog. But I think it looks more like the kind of sheepdogs here that they use for working on the farms. They have the same black and white, longish fur as this calf.

When I first looked at this that white patch reminded me of the face of an Old English sheepdog.

Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do about the earrings. I did think about how they may spoil the photo though as I was taking these shots. Just as well the farmer has tagged it as this is one I could have been tempted to take home as a pet. Not that its mother would let me.
