There is a story behind this place, probably involving a purchase and mortgage just before the Great Depression came upon the scene. I might just dig through some courthouse records and learn the story.

I'm glad to know where the photo was taken. I have been in that county, but really just passing through. Even at that, I was quite taken with the beauty of the place. Incidentally, when I was born, my folks lived on a little farm just above Clear Creek. The difference being that I was born in Colorado.

These pictures were taken in Eau Claire County, Wisconsin. When the story is told, you will hear it first. : )
