About This Image

Cave Falls is a waterfall in Yellowstone, but it's not reachable by the main loop. Instead, it's a long drive over dirt washboard roads. It gets its name from a small cave on the side of the falls, which is what I was standing in to take the photograph. The falls are impressive. They're probably thirty to forty feet tall and a few hundred feet wide.

From here, there are several hiking trails that go to other waterfalls. Some of them are much larger than this one; however, the hike is several miles, which we had neither the time or energy to do on that particular day.

Today the falls look soft and sweet. Oh, the glory to see them in a rage. The beauty of the element!!!! And the softness is like a mirage - they are anything but soft. An excellent view.

My family used to camp at a nearby camp site when I was young and then we would "hike" back to the falls. The "hike" is more of an easy, fairly falt path. Those trips are some of my foundest memories. It was always a great trip with lots of fun things to look at and places to explore.
