About This Image

Taken at North Park, Pittsburgh, PA. All I did to this photo was crop and used curves to adjust. If there is nothing interesting to shoot I can always find a Canada Goose!

This park is home to so many Canadian Geese that there is hardly a place around the lake that you can walk without stepping into a mess.

In July 2007 The U.S. Department of Agriculture euthanized 272 Canada geese at North Park and donated 550 pounds of the birds' breast meat to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Animal rights groups did criticize officials for gassing geese to control their population at the 3,010-acre county park but that's as far as it went.

What a nice goose portrait Mary and a very provoking story too. Do you suppose those geese gave their lives so that the others could live free? It sure sounds like a control problem to me.

Beautiful close-up portrait with nice sharp eyes. It is so sad that wildlife can't win. They either become extinct or face execution if they multiply too successfully.

I love your Canada Goose portrait Mary; he is looking a little aloof, as if he is deep in thought. :)

Beautiful potrait of the Goose, sad they had to kill so many but guess they have to controll the over population somehow. Carol
