About This Image

I'd been looking unsuccessfully for a decent flower to shoot for the contest in the middle of a drought, when I noticed our cactus doing its semi-annual thing. Knowing the flower would be limp in a few hours, I quickly draped it with a black cloth, shot in macro mode with electronic flash, using a couple pieces of foam packaging material as a diffuser and a reflector. Cropped and tweaked a little in Corel Paint Shop Pro.

The light turned out really well on the cactus flower.
